Are you looking for the perfect decoration to top your cupcakes? And wouldn’t it be the best the embellishments were edible? Well why not make your own edible cupcake decorations? Most people don’t have fondant in their cupcake decorating supplies, but many have honey, flour and powdered sugar. This recipe makes a honey dough which you can use as edible hair, edible animals, edible buildings, crowns, heads, and etc. Making your own allows you to customize your decorations to any birthday party theme, wedding theme, or event you would bring cupcakes to.

This recipe makes enough honey dough for three quarter size heads, or an 8 inch braid of hair.

Ingredients

1 Tablespoon Honey

1 Tablespoon white Flour

1/4 Tablespoon of powdered sugar

Mix the first two ingredients and one tablespoon of powdered sugar with a fork by mashing the honey through the prongs of the fork again and again. When the honey is coated well enough to touch, begin kneading by hand, adding more powdered sugar as the mixture needs. If you add a color to the mixture, do not add too much. The honey dough will look dull at first, but will become very shiny and bright after 10 minutes. If you add a lot of dye, mix two tablespoons more of powdered sugar and knead until the mixture is no longer sticky. To get the right amount of dye, stick a toothpick into the dye container and pull it straight out without gathering a huge glob and wipe into the dough and mix well. Your fingers will get dye on them.
