This homemade caramel cupcake frosting is tempting. It’s a sticky sweet topping that glazes your cupcakes and makes them look like candy. It’s not too tricky to make this topping, but you do need a candy thermometer and you will need to stir it constantly so it doesn’t burn. Give it a try and you will be rewarded with an extremely delicious cupcake.
Caramel Cake Topping (coats 12 cupcakes)
½ c sugar
¼ c. corn syrup
¾ c. whipping cream
1 Tbsp. butter
pinch of salt
Add all ingredients to a 2 quart pan and bring to a boil. Cook and stir until mixture comes to 225 degrees Fahrenheit. Approximately 20 minutes, depending on heat setting. Spoon topping over cupcakes.
